Job Purpose

 

We are looking for an experienced solicitor of at least 3 years PQE to join the legal and compliance department at Hyundai Motor UK (HMUK).  Working closely with other members of the legal, compliance and commercial teams, both in the UK and in Europe, you will provide legal support to HMUK across a broad range of commercial, consumer and compliance matters.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with have good organisation and time management skills, and the ability to work autonomously and under time pressure.  You must be able to communicate confidently with commercial colleagues and senior management and have strong contract drafting skills.  The ability to provide quick, pragmatic, commercial advice is key.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Providing legal advice to HMUK and other entities within the Hyundai group across a broad range of commercial, corporate, antitrust, intellectual property, financial services, data privacy, consumer law, advertising and property issues
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including services agreements, sponsorship agreements and retailer agreements
  • Reviewing all physical, digital and social media marketing content for regulatory compliance
  • Supporting the customer experience team in resolving consumer rights issues
  • Providing strategic advice to all levels of management regarding potential legal risks and mitigation strategies relating to the company’s business
  • Reviewing and continually improving HMUK’s internal processes and systems, particularly with regard to data privacy
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, external legal counsel, government bodies and industry associations
  • Instructing external counsel and actively managing fees
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of knowledge management, and actively sharing knowledge with colleagues across the business
  • Preparing and delivering internal legal training for colleagues across the business

Person Specification

 

  • Qualified to practice as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales (hold a current practising certificate)
  • Post qualification experience in commercial law (3 years min)
  • Ability to work autonomously with effective time management skills
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to liaise effectively with all stakeholders
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload
  • Strong skills in drafting legal documents (contracts, corporate documents etc.)
