HR and Recruitment Generalist

The HR and Recruitment Generalist role at HMUK is a hands-on, operational role supporting all core areas of our employee life cycle.  You will have responsibility for a variety of HR tasks, providing generalist HR advice, including employee relations, organisation design, learning and development and supporting key HR programmes.  Your focus will also be on the end to end recruitment process. 


This role will suit a process driven individual, who enjoys a wide variety of tasks, comfortable working in a small team with no day being the same!


Key Responsibilities:




  • Provide HR guidance and support to employees and managers within HMUK, providing guidance on Employee Relations matters, People Management and helping the business achieve its commercial objectives.
  • Be responsible for managing and maintaining all HR policies and key processes, providing support to the HR team to ensure all key employee facing processes run smoothly
  • Manage key employee data and monitor this, accordingly, including probation management, sickness and turnover.
  • Oversee monthly headcount reporting activities to ensure numbers are accurately reported
  • Support HR initiatives as required, including learning initiatives, annual review processes and explaining core HR processes where required.
  • Organise employee engagement events and support on CSR programmes where required.
  • Support Ad-hoc HR Projects as required.
  • Assist business leaders with facilitating promotions and career development opportunities


Employee Relations


  • Support Employee Relations processes where required. Experience in redundancy, disciplinary and grievance and other key employee relations process experience is essential.
  • Guide managers with discussions around probationary periods and employee maternity/paternity and sickness management.
  • Lead performance management support and discussions with the business to ensure optimal results and outcome




  • Support end to end recruitment, including liaising with Hiring Managers regarding vacancies, creating job descriptions and adverts, sourcing, screening and arranging interviews. 
  • Managing offer negotiations through to offers and providing a smooth on-boarding process.
  • Ensuring the Hiring Community and Candidates experience an exceptional recruitment journey.




Personal Specification


  • Previous experience in a dynamic and fast-paced HR team
  • Experience with HR generalist activities, including employee relations and HR operations
  • Recruitment and hiring experience
  • CIPD qualified
  • Highly numerate with the ability to critically review numbers
  • Strong attention to detail, process driven
  • Strong MS Office skills, with the ability to create spreadsheets and manipulate data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills – ability to manage a heavy workload and meet deadlines
  • Strong Customer service ethos
  • Must have a high level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Team player
  • Proactive, with a continuous improvement mind-set
